The temperature is a little warmer and the suns a little brighter. Summer will be here before you know it! You may ask, what comes to an HVAC specialist’s mind when they begin to see these changes? We have the answer… Seasonal Preparedness! It is imperative to ensure your facility is sustainable for the upcoming warm weather and summer months. One of the most important things you can do to ensure your HVAC system is running at optimal performance is preventative maintenance.

With summer just around the corner, a standard worry for our clients is higher utility costs. For many this fear proves to be true, but for those who keep their maintenances up and prepare their facilities for the upcoming season see their systems running smoothly, reduction in energy consumption, and affordable utility bills. The reality is, your HVAC systems need to be prepared for every season, but summer is definitely the most stressful should your system decide to fail. With the warmth quickly approaching, here are some tips you should follow as you prepare for optimal performance:

  1. Have frequent routine maintenances to check that your systems are ready for the upcoming seasonal changes.
  2. During peak seasons, consistently change and inspect the condition of your systems’ filters as old and dirty filters cause your units to work harder increasing energy costs while diminishing the life of your system.
  3. Regulate indoor and outdoor building sensors and thermostats to ensure your controls are responding appropriately and the real temperature is shown and upheld.
  4. Make sure you are certain your HVAC units are correct for your needs. The HVAC unit you obtain must be right for the size space to ensure its not working harder than expected to cool a space too large for its intended use.
  5. Install an EMS (Energy Management System). This can create savings in the areas of time, money, and energy for commercial buildings. The system acts as a computer-generated facility manager allowing you to have control of temperature adjustments no matter where you’re located. The system also alerts you with any problems.

Remember, a comfortable tenant is a happy tenant. Make sure your facilities are ready for whatever weather this summer may bring.
